Skull Guy London
DR GREENTHUMB
DR GREENTHUMB
I'm pretty sure I was listening to Cypress Hill when I made this one.
Cypress Hill changed hip hop in ways people still underestimate.
B-Real and Sen Dog built something out of Los Angeles in the early 1990s that crossed hip hop with rock, metal and a complete lack of apology about who they were and what they were about.
"Insane in the Brain" is the one everyone knows but the whole catalogue holds up.
They were the first Latino hip hop group to go platinum.
"Dr. Greenthumb" came out in 1998 on their IV album and it's exactly what you'd expect — and exactly what you'd want.
Loud, funny, unapologetic and absolutely committed to the hit.
The skull is part of the HAZE collection, which means it's a solid colour rather than spattered or marbled.
This one is mainly green but with a deeper green at the base that shows up as a tinge of blue when it's lit — and it gives a really interesting subtle lighting effect that I wasn't entirely expecting when I made it.
Sometimes the best things happen like that.
It's a slow burner. Appropriately enough.
